As we approach the holiday season, Sitka Legacy Foundation and Sitka Public Library hope to spark a community conversation about giving.
Every faith and every culture has traditions around giving. These traditions are passed down in families and through our various communities.
Sitka Legacy Foundation celebrates giving in Sitka. We are interested in learning from Sitkans about your cultural, religious and family traditions around giving.
We are seeking small works of art in all media – poetry, prose, spoken word, video, and visual arts – that express traditions of giving. With your permission, we would be honored to share this work with the community during the holiday season through social and traditional media and displays at Sitka Public Library this December.
Criteria for submissions
- Written work: Maximum of 500 words
- Spoken word: Maximum of two minutes
- Video: Maximum of five minutes
- Visual art: Originals of high-definition images. Physical objects not to exceed 3 x 3 x 3
Deadline for submissions: December 3, 2021
Please note: Shorter works will be easier to share!
Instructions on how to submit
Please email work in digital form to Robin Sherman at Sitka Legacy Foundation and Margot O’Connell at Sitka Public Library. Original artwork may be dropped off with Margot at the library. Please indicate whether you would like to pick up originals in January; artwork with market value will be displayed in the library lobby case but we are unable to guarantee safe return.
By submitting, artists grant permission to Sitka Legacy Foundation and Sitka Public Library to share work publicly. Please indicate whether work should be shared anonymously or with credit to artist. All copyrights belong to artist.
Submission of work is not a guarantee that it will be shared, but SLF and SPL will share as many submissions as possible.
