The Greater Sitka Legacy Fund is proud to announce the award of its 2015 grants for support of the Sitka Community.

Greater Sitka Legacy Fund awarded today:

  • $1,600 to the Sitka Volunteer Fire Department for a Rescue Saw and Diamond Blade
  • $1,000 to Catholic Community Services, for the Swan Lake Senior Center’s supplies for home-delivered meals to seniors in Sitka
  • $1,000 to the Girl Scouts of Alaska for the Sitka Girl Scout summer day camp
  • $1,650 to the Sitka Fine Arts Camp for the camper scholarship fund

Greater Sitka Legacy’s 2015 grant awards were made possible by a gift from the Rasmuson Foundation, made in recognition of Greater Sitka Legacy Fund having met its 2014 goal of raising $25,000 from the Sitka community.

During the 2013 and 2014 Community Asset Building Initiative challenge grant from Rasmuson, Greater Sitka Legacy Fund raised $25,000 each of the two years in local donations.  In return, Rasmuson Foundation gifted $50,000 each of the two years to the Greater Sitka Legacy’s endowment fund and $5,000 each year for local grant-making.

Greater Sitka Legacy Fund is an affiliate fund of The Alaska Community Foundation, advised by the local Advisory Board: Trish White, Mike Venneberg, Pam Steffes, William Davis, Ph.D., Zach Desmond, Willow Moore, Mollie Kabler, Connie Sipe, and Karen Grussendorf.
