SLF Announces 2020 Grant Program

Sitka Legacy Foundation (SLF), an Affiliate of The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF), seeks applications from qualified, tax exempt 501(c)(3) organizations (or equivalents, including Tribal entities, local governments, schools, and faith-based organizations) that support charitable organizations and programs in Sitka and on Baranof Island.

Our 2020 grant cycle will open on Monday, August 17 and close on Friday, September 25 at 5:00pm. If you are a current grantee and need to complete a grant report or other follow up, please note that these are completed using the online grant system.

Grants may support a broad range of community needs. In FY 2020, SLF will give priority to organizations, programs and projects that benefit children and families. Nonprofit providers of childcare and after school activities are especially encouraged to apply. SLF does not fund youth athletics and teams. Organizational operating expenses are an eligible use of grant funds. We anticipate that most grant awards will be between $1,000 and $3,000, and will not exceed $5,000.

Grantees must submit an online grant agreement signifying acceptance of the terms and conditions of the grant. Grant projects must generally be completed within one year of the award, and a final grant report must be submitted online by the due date to maintain future eligibility for grants from SLF and ACF. Any overdue reports or other follow-ups for previous grant awards from ACF and SLF must also be submitted using the online grant system prior to the deadline for the current application to be considered.

Grant applications must be submitted online by 5:00pm AKDT on Friday, September 25, 2020. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered for funding. Any overdue grant reports or other follow ups for previous grant awards from ACF and its Affiliates must also be submitted using the online grant system prior to the deadline for the current application to be considered.

Please review SLF’s Competitive Grant Guidelines to determine your eligibility before applying.

Applicants are encouraged to discuss projects with SLF’s Program Manager, Robin Sherman, prior to applying for grants; Robin can also answer general questions about the program at rsherman@alaskacf.org. Please direct eligibility and technical questions about the online grant system to ACF’s Affiliate Program Officer at affiliate@alaskacf.org or 907-334-6700.
