Sitka Legacy Foundation is pleased to announce that with our community’s generous support, we have met our 4-year fundraising goal a full year early.
Starting in 2017, we set a goal of raising $185,000 by the end of 2020. Generous donors — mostly Sitka residents — contributed more than $185,000 to Sitka’s permanent endowments between 2017 and 2019. The Alaska Community Foundation will now deposit $185,000 in matching funds into our endowments early this year. Receiving the matching funds ahead of schedule means the principal will be invested sooner, generating more income to benefit our community in the short term and in perpetuity.
Sitka Legacy Foundation’s endowed funds now total more than $575,000. Our advisory board has ambitious goals to continue increasing our assets, enhancing our capacity to meet community needs, now and forever.
